Review: Inspire by Cora Carmack

Title: Inspire
Author: Cora Carmack
Publishers: Self Published
Page Count: 284

Goodreads Synopsis:

Kalliope lives with one purpose.

To inspire.

As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.

Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal.

Her presence may inspire genius.

But it breeds madness, too.

This was my first Cora Carmack book and I found this book enjoyable. This book was more contemporary than paranormal but I enjoyed the relationship very much in this book. The paranormal part of this book was greek mythology and even though it didn't play such a big part in this first book I really enjoyed this aspect because it was so unique.

Kalliope is a muse and she literally inspires people...have you ever read a book like that before? I have to give props to Cora for picking something so unique to write about.

I didn't find myself connecting with any of the characters but I loved all of them especially Kalliope, Wilder and Gwen. I liked the connections all the characters had and I am excited to see what happens in all of these relationships in the next book.

Now I tend to find some NA books to be a bit cheesy but not so much with this book. It was realistic and not rushed but at the same time what you want out of an NA book.

I didn't find myself getting bored throughout any part of this book or confused at all which was because of the writing. As interesting as the plot was, the writing in this book was fantastic and I want to pick up more books by Cora Carmack.

Now we get to the end of the books, and if you've read Inspire then you'll know what I'm talking about. The ending was totally unexpected and heart breaking and it makes you desperately want the second book in this series but you can tell that the ending of this book means that the second book will focus more on the mythology aspect of the story.

This book was very enjoyable and I gave it 4.5/5 stars because of the writing and the ending mainly. I do recommend this book for a fun read.

That's all for this review! I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you again next week!

Happy Reading!
